About
Who We Are
A Tahltan member-owned Indigenous business built on relationships, purpose and a commitment to lasting economic opportunity.
Our Story
Bear Claw Industries
Bear Claw Industries is a Tahltan member-owned Indigenous business founded by Rick McLean. Established in 2017 and incorporated in 2018, Bear Claw was created with a purpose rooted in sustainable Indigenous participation through strong commercial relationships.
The company was created after examining opportunities that Indigenous businesses and communities could miss during the construction and operation of major projects. From the beginning, Bear Claw focused on products and services that projects require repeatedly: technology, consumables, tooling, equipment, energy and specialized industrial solutions.
Today, Bear Claw works with manufacturers, suppliers, technology providers, energy companies and service organizations to bring practical solutions to mining operations, major projects and Indigenous communities.

Our Logo
The Story Behind the Bear Claw Logo
Engaging & Building Legacies Together.
The Bear Claw Industries logo reflects the company's connection to Indigenous identity, the land, mining and the people who helped build Bear Claw.
The bear claw symbolizes strength, resilience, protection and perseverance, while reflecting Bear Claw's connection to the Tahltan Nation through owner and founder Rick McLean, a Tahltan member and former Chief of the Tahltan Band Council.
The triangle represents the mountains and the Golden Triangle of Northwestern British Columbia, a mineral-rich region closely connected to Tahltan Territory. The gold accent recognizes both the region and the opportunities responsible resource development can create for Indigenous communities.
Created by Tahltan artist Alano Edzerza, the logo was conceptualized with Scott Higgins, one of Bear Claw Industries' founding members. Their collaboration helped create an identity that brings together Indigenous roots, mining and industry, partnership and opportunity. Scott's role in its creation also gives the logo a lasting connection to his contribution and legacy within Bear Claw.
Together, these elements represent what Bear Claw stands for: strong partnerships, responsible development and lasting value for Indigenous communities and industry.
